Frankie Edgar will continue to fight for the UFC going forward.
While the former UFC Lightweight Champion’s bout against Pedro Munhoz has been scrapped from UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Ige, the 38-year-old still has some good news his way as Edgar has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion, though the exact details of his contract remain unknown. Brett Okamoto of ESPN is the first to confirm the deal.
Edgar has spent the majority of his professional career in the UFC as the New Jersey native first made his debut in the promotion back at UFC 67 against Tyson Griffin on Feb. 2007. Edgar was victorious in his debut and continued to rack up big wins against top names such as Sean Sherk (via unanimous decision at UFC 98) and Matt Veach (via submission at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale) before defeating B.J. Penn for the UFC Lightweight title at UFC 112.
Edgar would ultimately lose the belt on his third title defense against Benson Henderson; however, the MMA veteran would continue to deliver exciting fights against the likes of Jose Aldo, Charles Oliveira, and Max Holloway. Edgar’s professional record currently stands at 23 wins, 8 losses, and 1 no contest.
