While Henry Cejudo’s Bantamweight Championship fight against Dominick Cruz at UFC 250 has been postponed, those of you who want to check out the 33-year-old in action can see his debut bout against Dustin Kimura at UFC on Fox 13.
The California native came into the promotion with an undefeated record; however, Cejudo wasn’t the first man to enter the big leagues undefeated; The real question was, could the Olympic gold medalist make a big impact in the UFC?
Cejudo started off in the promotion strong, besting Kimura , Chris Cariaso (via unanimous decision at UFC 185), Chico Camus (via unanimous decision at UFC 188), and Jussier Formiga (via split decision at UFC Fight Night 78); however, his momentum would be stopped via TKO by the longest reigning flyweight champion in UFC history, Demetrious Johnson.
Cejudo’s hopes at getting another shot at the UFC Flyweight title seemed to end when he lost to Joseph Benavidez later on in December 2016; however, the flyweight would bounce back with two consecutive wins and got his rematch against Demetrious Johnson at UFC 227. After an exciting back-and-forth contest, Cejudo won via split decision. Following that fight, Cejudo’s stock would continue to rise as he would eventually beat Marlon Moraes for the newly vacant UFC Bantamweight title at UFC 238.
