A big change has taken place with UFC 250 as Jose Aldo was forced to pull out the main event due to Visa issues, so former Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz will step in to face Henry Cejudo for the respective belt at the pay-per-view.
In addition to Aldo, Mauricio Rua, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Ketlen Vieira, Bethe Correia, Augusto Sakai and Carlos Felipe all also off the card due to the same reason.
Cejudo will be defending the Bantamweight title for the first time since winning the belt at UFC 238 over Marlon Moraes. The 33-year-old enters the contest in the midst of a five-fight winning streak, besting Wilson Reis (UFC 215), Sergio Pettis (UFC 218), Demetrious Johnson (won the UFC Flyweight Championship), and T.J. Dillashaw (UFC Fight Night 143). His professional record currently stands at 15 wins and 2 losses.
Cruz will be making his return to the octagon after his UFC Bantamweight title loss to Cody Garbrandt at UFC 206 back in December 2016. Prior to his big championship loss, the 35-year-old was on a 15-fight winning streak, besting names such as Urijah Faber (UFC 132 and 199), Demetrious Johnson (UFC on Versus 6), and T.J. Dillashaw (won the Bantamweight title at UFC Fight Night 81). Cruz’s professional record currently stands at 22 wins and 2 losses.
UFC 250 takes place on Saturday, May 9 from the Tachi Palace Casino Resort in Lemoore, California with Henry Cejudo and Dominick Cruz headlining.
