Lightweight Veteran Jim Miller Scores Submission Win In Record-Tying 35th UFC Fight

In stepping into the Octagon against Roosevelt Roberts on Saturday at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs Volkov, lightweight veteran Jim Miller tied Donald "Cowboy" Ceronne for most fights in UFC history with 35. The 36-year-old made it a memorable night by securing a first-round submission.

Agreeing to the 160-pound catchweight bout on short notice, Miller entered the night as an underdog. But the savvy veteran proved he has a bit more juice left in the tank.

Miller took advantage of an early exchange that saw Roberts slip to the mat. In his comfort zone, Miller — a dangerous submission artist — worked his way into position for an armbar. He eventually locked it in, forcing Roberts to tap at 2:25 in the opening frame.

It was Miller's 18th career submission and 10th in the UFC. He's now tied with Royce Gracie for third most submission in the UFC, behind only Demian Maia (11) and Charles Oliveira (14). He's also now at 21 career UFC wins, just two behind current leader Donald Cerrone (23). Because the bout was at a 160-pound catchweight, the victory does not count towards Miller's record 19 UFC lightweight wins.
