The trilogy fight between heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and former champion Daniel Cormier is officially set and will take place at UFC 252 on August 15. UFC president Dana White has yet to announce a location.
"I don't have a location yet, but the trilogy with those two great heavyweights will happen this summer," White told ESPN alongside the UFC's Twitter account posting a promotional image for the championship bout.
This will be the third time both fighters will meet in the Octagon. The series rivalry is currently split one apiece.
Cormier beat Miocic in stunning fashion the first time they met in July 2018. He captured the heavyweight belt with a first round knockout and became just the second fighter in the UFC to hold two titles simultaneously.
The two met again for a rematch the following year in August 2019 at UFC 241. While Cormier came out strong, Miocic whittled away at his body before scoring a fourth round TKO to recapture the belt.
Cormier, who is 41 years old, has said this will be his last fight before retiring. He expressed his excitement for the upcoming trilogy fight on social media as well.
"This one is for all the marbles," Cormier wrote on Twitter. "1-1, both knockouts but great fights, I can't wait to fight this dude again!! Now it's time to work as hard as I ever trained."
Miocic has been recovering from surgery on a torn retina that he suffered in his last fight with Cormier.
