Derek Brunson vs. Edmen Shabazyn will no longer take place at UFC 248; however, the middleweight bout has been moved to UFC Fight Night Portland. As of this writing, there’s no reason why the fight has been moved from the pay-per-view card.
Brunson is coming into the fight with some solid momentum as the middleweight is currently in the midst of a two-fight winning streak, besting Elias Theodorou and Ian Heinisch. The North Carolina native is hoping to get back into his winning streak from 2014 – 2016 where Brunson had a strong five-fight streak going. The middleweight’s professional record currently stands at 20 wins and 7 losses.
Shabazyn enters the contest undefeated, as the middleweight has beaten Darren Stewart, Charles Byrd, Jack Marshman, and Brad Tavares in the UFC thus far. Prior to his stint in the UFC, Shabazyn competed in California Xtreme Fighting and Gladiator Challenge and won all of his fights via knockout. Shabazyn’s professional record currently stands at 11 wins and no losses.
UFC Fight Night Portland takes place on Saturday, April 11 from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon with Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris headlining.
