John Dodson will continue fighting for the UFC for years to come.
The MMA veteran has officially signed a new five-fight deal with the promotion, according to MMA Fighting. The exact details of his contract remain disclosed.
Dodson has been fighting in the company under the bantamweight and flyweight division since 2011. The 35-year-old first got his start on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Bisping vs. Team Miller, where he went through Brandon Merkt, John Albert, Johnny Bedford, and former UFC Bantamweight Champion T.J Dillashaw to secure a contract with the promotion.
Since then, Dodson has competed against top tier prospects such as Demetrius Johnson (for the UFC Flyweight Championship at UFC on Fox 6 and UFC 191), Petr Yan (at UFC Fight Night 145), and Jussier Formiga (at UFC on FX 5). While Dodson has yet to win a belt within the UFC, his notable victories over Eddie Wineland (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 108), Pedro Munhoz (via split decision at UFC 222), and Tim Elliot (via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 3) have kept him in the top 15 rankings. His professional record currently stands at 21 wins and 11 losses.
