On May 9th, Henry Cejudo will put his bantamweight title on the line against former champion, Dominick Cruz.
Since defeating one of the greatest flyweights for the respective 125-pound belt at UFC 227, Henry Cejudo’s stock has been rising ever since. The 33-year-old put on a fantastic performance against T.J. Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night 143, who was the reigning Bantamweight Champion at the time.
Cejudo would become the two-division champion by beating Marlon Moraes at UFC 238, putting his name amongst the elite group of fighters who’ve held two championships at once. In his first title defense, Cejudo will put his belt on the line against one of the pioneers in the 135-pound division, Dominick Cruz.
The 35-year-old was tearing it up in the bantamweight division between 2008 – 2010, besting big names such as Joseph Benavidez (World Extreme Cagefighting 42 and 50), Urijah Faber (UFC 132), Demetrious Johnson (UFC on Versus 6), and T.J. Dillashaw (UFC Fight Night 81), before finally succumbing to defeat against Cody Garbrandt (UFC 207).
Since then, Cruz has been out of action for personal reasons; however, the former UFC bantamweight champ was called out by Cejudo himself when Jose Aldo was forced to pull out of the show and now, Dominick Cruz looks to reclaim his position at the top by beating Henry Cejudo.
