UFC veteran Jimmie Rivera won’t be fighting for too long.
The Ultimate Fighter contestant has been in the business of mixed martial arts since 2007; Rivera has fought for Ring of Combat, Bellator MMA, King of The Cage – in which he is a former KOTC Flyweight Champion -, and of course, the UFC.
The New Jersey native has thrilled audiences with fights against Iuri Alcântara, John Dodson, and Marlon Moraes, and Rivera will continue to excite audiences for at least four to five more years (transcript courtesy of
Bloody Elbow):
“I knew I always wanted to take it as far as I could, I never thought I’d get this far. There is a lot I still have left. The plan is to fight till 34 or 35. I still have a couple of years to go,” said Rivera.
“It’s really more of a mental aspect than anything to see who you really are as a person. What you can really do.”
Rivera was originally scheduled to fight Marlon Vera at UFC 247 before pulling out with an injury. There’s no word on whether the fight will be re-scheduled for another pay-per-view. UFC 247 will be headlined with a light-heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes.
