Things have gotten worse for Maycee Barber.

The Flyweight fighter suffered her first loss inside the ocatgon against Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 246 via unanimous decision and now, she’s dealing with a major injury that will keep her sidelined for a lengthy period of time.

Barber apparently suffered a complete ACL tear during the bout. While there’s no word on what caused the severe injury, it was noticeable that the Colorado native was grabbing onto her knee following the first round. Barber believes that the injury occurred within the first few seconds of the contest.

Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports that the injury could keep her out of the octagon for nine months; however, the recovery time won’t be determined until the fighter has surgery within the next couple of days. We’ll keep you updated on the UFC fighter’s status once her time frame has been confirmed.
