Hiromu Takahashi is defending the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship on New Japan grounds.
At the NJLPW Battle Line Hokkaido show, Hiromu teamed with Yota Tsuji and Shingo Takagi to take on The War Dogs Taiji Ishimori, David Finlay, and Gabe Kidd. The former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion managed to get a win over Takahashi and he demanded the GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion to put his belt on the line at the upcoming Destruction in Kobe show on September 28th.
Takahashi agreed to put up the GHC Junior Heavyweight title and the match was confirmed by New Japan officials themselves.
Taiji Ishimori and Hiromu Takahashi are no strangers to facing one another. In fact, these two are arguably the pioneers of the current generation of the junior heavyweight division. Hiromu has beaten Ishimori for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight title on numerous occasions. Ishimori has returned the favor, beating Hiromu for the belt as well.
But this will be the first time that both men fight for the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship. The Bullet Club War Dogs member is a former GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion. In fact, Ishimori has won the belt on three separate occasions. The only notable New Japan star he’s ever defended the title against is current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. back in 2013. It should be a fascinating spectacle to see old rivals clash for a championship that both men are extremely familiar with.
Hiromu has been working with Pro Wrestling NOAH throughout 2025 and he won his first title under the promotion earlier this month. Hiromu Takahashi beat YO-HEY for the GHC Junior Heavyweight title.
YO-HEY held the belt for a respectable 128 days; The Pro-Wrestling NOAH star originally beat Eita for the title back at NOAH 25th Anniversary ~ Memorial Voyage 2025 In Ryogoku and successfully defended his belt four times before dropping it to Hiromu Takahashi.
Takahashi’s defense against Ishimori will be his first. Should he get past the New Japan veteran then Takahashi will have to defend his belt against Eita on October 11th.
