A new era has begun.
NWA held their 77th Anniversary special; however, the company is now releasing their shows through Roku and it’s been revealed that a new NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion has been crowned.
After 350 days, Thom Latimer is no longer the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. The 39-year-old fought Silas Mason and pulled out the biggest victory of his career by pinning Latimer to become the new world champ! This is Mason’s first run as the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.
Thom Latimer beat EC3 at the 76th Anniversary show to become the new NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. Latimer successfully defended that belt 31 times, beating top names such as Bishop Dyer, Stu Grayson, Colby Corino, Rhino, and Bryan Idol. Now, Latimer finds himself on the outside looking in as it’s the first time he isn’t holding gold in over a year.
Seeing as how Latimer won the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship less than a week after dropping the NWA National Heavyweight title, it’s quite possible Latimer could end up being a champion again very soon.
Or could this be the end of Thom Latimer in the NWA?
There hasn’t been any rumors about his contract coming up, but Latimer has essentially fought everyone that he could on the NWA roster. Latimer was in the NWA since 2019 and has grown into a solid performer who could make a good addition on the Impact! Or NXT roster. Though nothing has been confirmed about Thom’s future with the NWA, it should be interesting to see where he goes from here.
As for Silas, we’ll have to wait a couple of weeks to find out his first challenger for the prestigious belt. It's quite possible that Latimer may get a rematch for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight title, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Congratulations to Silas Mason!
