Adam Cole Is Still NXT Champion After Johnny Gargano Costs Tommaso Ciampa The Title At TAKEOVER: PORTLAND

Adam Cole is still your NXT Champion, baybay.

In what was arguably the match of the night (and that's saying a lot), Cole and Tommaso Ciampa went to war in the main event of NXT TakeOver: Portland. There were some big spots (that table bump was hard to watch) and a lot of near falls (too many?) before the rest of the Undisputed ERA predictably got involved.

The Blackheart did manage to fight them off and had victory in his sights after a ref bump, but then the unthinkable happened. Johnny Gargano made his way to the ring and looked like he was going to help his friend and former tag-partner, but after Ciampa grabbed the title and went to use it on Cole, Johnny took it away from him and hit him in the head, allowing The Panama City Playboy to score the pin and keep the gold.

Shocking? Yes - but only because most if us assumed NXT wouldn't go back to this feud so soon. How many times have we seen Ciampa vs. Gargano? Okay, so the face/heel roles are revered, but so what? It'd be different if this happened a year or so down the line, but this just smacks of the powers that be having no idea what to do with Gargano.

What do you guys think? Did you enjoy TakeOver: Portland overall? Let us know in the comments.
