Io Shirai Reportedly Unhappy With Her Current Position In NXT And Could Return To Japan

Io Shirai is one of the most popular Superstars in NXT right now but it sounds like she's not overly happy with her current position in the company and that could lead to a return to Japan later this year...

According to Dave Meltzer during a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, NXT Superstar Io Shirai is "not necessarily happy" with the way she's being used on the brand. There's no word on why that is but her fiance is back in Japan so it could be that she's missing home.

It's worth noting that Stardom (a women's wrestling promotion based in Japan) is keen to bring back both Shirai and Kairi Sane this year as they know their contracts are expiring soon. Neither women has been used as well as they probably should have been but WWE may be considering bringing Shirai to the main roster in order to keep her around.

However, with Stardom willing to offer her big money to return home, WWE may have an uphill battle ahead especially as Meltzer notes that she's not exactly on big money in NXT right now.

As always, we'll keep you guys updated as we learn more.
