At Super Show-Down, Melbourne's own Buddy Murphy won the WWE Cruiserweight championship, taking down Cedric Alexander, who reigned over the cruiserweight division since WrestleMania. The journey for Buddy Murphy hasn’t been an easy one.
Murphy is a former NXT Tag Team champion, but after his team split back in 2016, Murphy was barely seen on television again. However, things turned around for the cruiserweight champ, who got tired of sitting around and doing nothing and ultimately decided that he wanted to join the 205 Live roster due to him being a big fan of cruiserweight wrestling.
Murphy briefly spoke to the Mirror Sport about his achievement of finally capturing the cruiserweight title:
"Going through NXT and being lost in the dark, so to speak, not really having a direction or seeing a light at the end of the tunnel," Murphy added.
"[Super Show-Down] was the light at the end of the tunnel, and [it] doesn't get much better than that."
