AJ Lee Clarifies Social Media Presence After Fake Facebook Post About Her WWE Status Went Viral

AJ Lee has addressed a recent viral Facebook post that claimed to clarify her current WWE status, clarifying which platforms she's currently active on amid what's proving to be an extended WWE hiatus.

AJ Lee made her long-awaited return to WWE earlier this year, and teamed up with real-life husband CM Punk to battle Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch at Wrestlepalooza, the first WWE PLE on ESPN.

The match was a hit, but we haven't seen the former Divas Champion since then. That's led to speculation about whether she's injured and her WWE future. There have recently been rumblings that Lee will compete in WarGames at Survivor Series, but that's yet to be confirmed by WWE.

Recently, a Facebook post from Lee went viral in which she said she was on a book tour and planned to return to challenge Lynch for the Women's Intercontinental Championship in due course. It's since been debunked as a fake account, and Lee has just broken her silence on that.

"Hi bebes, I don’t have Facebook or any other socials besides this X and a verified Instagram," she wrote on X, providing a link to the latter platform.

Talking about her first match in over a decade during the Wrestlepalooza post-show, Lee said, "It’s been a minute. Everything hurts way more than I remember. But that was a lot of fun."

She continued, "It is the most meaningful thing I can ever do is connect with my fans, particularly with young women, and connect on a mental health topic. It’s the greatest thing I’ll ever do in my life. I was built to take your stories and be a part of your journey and just help you realize you are not alone, but I hope my fans know in my hard times, they helped me not feel alone."

Lee, who retired in 2015, went on to praise what she'd seen from the women's division since returning to WWE. "Everyone was so welcoming and kind and complimentary in a way that made me feel like, oh, I did something and it meant something to these wonderfully talented women."

"To be a tiny piece of their journey is so humbling. I’m so proud of them, like a mama, and they’re wonderful, and I’m happy to be in their presence in the locker room, but the evolution of the women has been the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen," Lee added. "They deserved it ten years ago, they deserve it now, they deserve even more in the next ten years."

Stay tuned for updates on WWE's plans for AJ Lee as we have them.
