As the Road to WrestleMania looms, WWE is in something of a holding pattern. However, the return of some big names would certainly spice things up a little, and we now have an update on former Women's World Champion Liv Morgan.
According to PWInsiderElite.com, she's currently expected to return from her separated shoulder injury at the start of 2026. However, if her physical rehabilitation continues ahead of schedule, then it may happen sooner. Multiple sources in WWE are said to be "very excited" about her eventual return, suggesting big creative plans are in place.
We're hearing rumblings that the goal for Morgan is to have her make a surprise comeback at the Royal Rumble PLE scheduled for January 31, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Outside of WWE, the trial for Morgan's alleged stalker, Shawn Chan, is scheduled to begin in Florida next month. The WWE Superstar also has Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo on the way; the movie is scheduled for a tentative Summer 2026 release.
Over to AJ Lee, and chances are you've seen various updates on social media this week about her return. A Facebook post did the rounds with Lee saying she's not injured and is currently on a book tour. She also teased a clash with Women's Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch.
PWInsider.com has managed to confirm that it was a fake post, and that Lee is not on any sort of book tour. As for whether she's injured, we're hearing that's not the case, but Lee has been absent from television since Wrestlepalooza in September.
Current speculation points to her being one of the competitors in the women's WarGames match at Survivor Series, and her continued absence suggests that she will only be working on a part-time basis moving forward.
Addressing her decision to return to WWE, Lee recently said, "It’s sort of been something that was in the air for the past couple of years as an option. However, when I retired, I was very comfortable staying retired and I felt very complete in my career. I’ve always set to do something, to embark on a new journey, it has to feel brand new and feel like I’m needed and it has to feel exciting and kind of scary."
"Starting this new chapter on ESPN feels like a whole new mountain the company needs to climb, and I was flattered that they believed that I could help draw eyeballs in that way," she said of Wrestlepalooza. "Also, Becky is very interesting to me. I think she’s wonderful in the ring and we have a lot of similarities. She would not be an easy person to get back in the ring with. That was exciting."
Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
