Braun Strowman Opens Up On WWE Release And The One Way The Company Held Him Back

Former Universal Champion Braun Strowman was released by WWE earlier this year, the second time in five years. He'd previously been let go in 2021, but when Vince McMahon stepped away from the company, Triple H brought the Monster Among Men back into the fold in 2022.

His second WWE run was plagued with injuries, leaving Strowman to hover around the upper midcard. The reason for his release was blamed on his high salary, and his in-ring future isn't clear.

Doing the rounds to promote Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman for the USA Network, Strowman argued that WWE not allowing him to show his real personality played a huge role in why he couldn't make a bigger impact.

"This is the first time in my life I’ve had a major platform where I get to be Adam Scherr, the man behind the monster, and that’s what’s so special to me," Strowman said of the series. "If WWE would have ever just let me be me, I would have ruled the world."

"I did my best I could with what they gave me every week, I like to think I changed what it meant to be a big man in the wrestling business, and now here I am with another opportunity in life to go out here and prove naysayers wrong."

Addressing where things stand with him now, Strowman explained, "I’ll be honest with you, I haven’t watched an ounce of WWE since I left. No idea what’s going on. My life has been so busy, and I honestly needed a little bit of a break. Things didn’t end how I wanted it to with the company, but that’s business."

"WWE gave me an opportunity at life that I could have never imagined having. I was homeless 12 years ago. I have a house in Wisconsin. I have a house in Florida. I’m 900 feet in the air in the biggest one I’ve ever seen in New York City. Talking to you guys about my own television network. Life’s good, baby."

Strowman certainly seems happy with his post-WWE career. However, as Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman was produced in conjunction with the company, odds are a second season won't happen.

With WWE working closely with TNA, the door is likely closed on Strowman signing with them. AEW is a possibility, of course, but we can't imagine Tony Khan being willing to pay what the Monster Among Men will want.
