The news of Bray Wyatt's death last week has left pro wrestlers and fans alike reeling. The former WWE Champion had been missing from television since shortly after the Royal Rumble, resulting in him missing a planned WrestleMania match with Bobby Lashley.
Since then, we've heard conflicting reports about his health but it started looking like he might finally be gearing up for a return earlier this summer.
TMZ has shared new insights into what happened to Bray on the day of his death, confirming with law enforcement that he caught COVID in March and, as a result, developed heart complications which resulted in him having a "weak lower part of his heart."
That alone likely marked the end of Wyatt's in-ring career, and he'd been hospitalised the week before he died due to that ongoing heart problem. Bray attended a follow-up appointment on the morning he died and was advised to wear an external heart defibrillator.
Those are designed to treat people who are at risk of a cardiac incident, and while there's nothing to say it would have saved him, the device was found still in Wyatt's car shortly after his death.
As you might expect, the gossip site has shared specifics on that which we don't feel the need to detail here. All that's really relevant is Wyatt told his fiancee, JoJo Offerman, that he was going for a nap before passing away in his sleep. Unfortunately, she discovered him and her mother attempted CPR to no avail.
It's a tragic story but one which can hopefully be used as a lesson for those who are suffering from any similar issues to Wyatt.
At the end of last night's RAW, an emotional Becky Lynch paid tribute to her friend.
