Carlito made his WWE debut in 2004 on SmackDown, defeating John Cena to win the United States Championship in his first match. He moved to RAW in 2005, capturing the Intercontinental Championship while showcasing his popular "Caribbean Cool" persona.
Following tag team success with his brother Primo, his initial WWE run ended in 2010 after a tenure marked by mid-card success but no world title reigns. Carlito eventually returned to WWE in 2021, appearing on RAW in a tag match with Jeff Hardy after a surprise Royal Rumble appearance.
He made a full-time return at Backlash 2023 in Puerto Rico, joining the Latino World Order. Unfortunately, WWE failed to capitalise on his momentum and the incredible response he received in his home country.
Carlito eventually turned heel in March 2024, aligning with The Judgment Day. However, his activity has been limited, with only one televised match in 2025 as part of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Despite being a mainstay of The Judgement Day's backstage segments, he was released by WWE this past May.
Addressing his departure from the company while speaking to WWE Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley, Carlito hit out at the company for only telling him about his release two weeks before his contract expired. He also expressed frustration with being told not to attend what would've been his last TV taping.
"The contract ended, and they wanted me not to renew. They call, like, two weeks out," he explained. "You don’t have to come to the RAW or whatever. I’m a professional. I don’t like that they...I’m a professional. I’ll come in. [Don't] treat me like a mark or something."
Despite being unhappy with the way he was treated, the former Judgement Day member is taking it in his stride and gearing up for a return to the independent scene. "I’ll do my job and yes, whatever. It’s not the end of the world either," he noted.
The Judgement Day has been a focal point of RAW in recent weeks, with each member holding championship gold. Carlito hasn't exactly been missed, but it is a shame that he's not part of what's proving to be a compelling run for the faction. Fortunately, Dominik Mysterio's feud with AJ Styles has resulted in plenty of laughs lately.
In a previous interview, the former WWE Superstar pointed to Triple H not liking his character as potentially being a reason for why his time with The Judgement Day reached such an abrupt end.
"I’m not getting pushed and Hunter is not a fan of Carlito," he revealed. "I think, personally, he likes me, but I think he never was a big fan of the character." Despite that, given his age, he later reiterated that his two-year run "went better than I thought it would."
