It's been an exciting few years for Chelsea Green. Despite being a heel, fans consistently root for the former Women's United States Champion, and as leader of the Secret Hervice, Green remains one of SmackDown's biggest draws.
She's been joined in that group by Alba Fyre and Piper Niven, though the latter is currently dealing with a potentially career-ending injury. While Green has been seeking a replacement, she insists that it's only temporary.
Talking to Woman's World, Green discussed the importance of the Secret Hervice to her and why the door will remain open for Niven if and when she's able to step back into the ring.
"I started in a stable under Maria Kanellis and she has set the tone for how I behave and lead in WWE," Green started. "It also helps that Piper and Alba are my friends, and we have mutual respect for each other. They are also way more advanced in wrestling than I am! Everyone looks at me like I’m the leader, but we know within the group that this is all make-believe. I’m not the real leader, and that’s fun."
"We have all watched each other go through injuries," she continued. "The girls took care of me when I broke my collarbone in India almost 10 years ago. They washed my hair, packed my bags, took me to the airport, got me on a plane home."
"Now it’s my turn to make sure that Piper is okay—more so mentally. There’s not much I can do physically, but I want to make sure that as she takes that step back, she realizes this is the time to rest, recover, brainstorm new ideas, start a new hobby, and not get in her head. Because, trust me, we get in our heads!"
Green added, "Piper is so valuable to us. We’re not just replacing her, but the show goes on. This is Hollywood, baby! And I love to start a storyline on social media and plant the seed, because then the writers can gauge reactions and maybe bring it into their creative meetings."
Addressing her own in-ring future, Green confirmed that she's eager to have a family, but put it on "pause" when she was asked to return.
"This was an opportunity we both knew we could not turn down. If I turn it down, I’m going to end up having kids and resent the family life," she said, referring to Matt Cardona. "So here I am. I’m 34. I’m dying for babies. My husband wants babies...but duty calls. I’m making money. I’m living my dream. But hey, you never know. In a couple months, if it happens, God willing, it happens."
