CM Punk is no fan of WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan. Like many fans, he has an issue with the WCW icon's racist comments - which were revealed in a leaked sex tape several years ago - not to mention a difference in political opinions.
With RAW streaming globally on Netflix, international fans get extra content during standard commercial breaks in the U.S. That ranges from video packages to promos and Punk was on hand to cut one during last night's show.
Backstage interviewer Jackie Redmond caught up with the Best of the World to discuss his place in the upcoming 30-man Royal Rumble match. After running down some of the names set to compete, Punk took the opportunity to take a shot at the Hulkster.
"Nobody can beat me when I'm at my best," Punk said. "You say John Cena? I can't see John Cena throwing me over the top rope on February the first. Did you say Roman Reigns? Roman Reigns needed my help to settle family business at WarGames. And in the Royal Rumble, there are no friends. It's every man for himself."
He added, "I put Drew McIntyre in the dirt. Don't ask me about Sami Zayn, he's not on my level. You put Hulk Hogan in the Royal Rumble, I'll throw his dusty ass over the top rope and I'll kill Hulkamania once and for all."
Even in Texas, the fans popped for that line and it's going to be very interesting to see how Hogan is received at Saturday Night's Main Event this weekend.
We definitely don't anticipate seeing Hogan step back into the ring to compete in the Royal Rumble because he was clearly having issues even walking out to the stage earlier this month.
For those of you who don't recall, when Hogan showed up on RAW to promote his beer brand, he was mercilessly booed by fans. The reaction to his return drew mainstream media attention and largely overshadowed what was an otherwise very successful show for WWE. There's since been chatter about turning Hogan heel or making him a manager but nothing has been confirmed on that front.
