Dominik Mysterio has established himself as one of WWE's best heels, and it's obvious that he's on the cusp of becoming a red-hot babyface (fans love to boo him, and the pop he got for winning the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania was huge).
As a heel, Mysterio gets away with saying some wild things. In a new interview, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio was asked if he feels he's ever "gone too far" with an angle.
"I’m the type of guy to ask for forgiveness before permission," he shared. "So there's definitely been a few times where I’ve gone to the back and I’m like, 'Oh shit, sorry.' I was like, 'I didn’t know.'"
"One of them was, I spit on Dragon Lee," Mysterio admitted. "I got to the back. First thing, they’re like, 'We don’t spit on people.' I was like, 'I didn’t know.' I was like, 'I didn’t spit on him.' I was like, 'I spit my gum.' 'Dom, we do not spit on.' I was like, 'That’s my bad.' I was like, on me. I didn’t know."
Another habit he was told to stop doing is arguably just as gross. "There’s been a couple times in ring too, like, during commercial breaks, I’ll go up in the corner and I’ll hit a snot rocket," Mysterio revealed. "Not on anyone in specific. If just someone’s talking shit. I’ll look at them. And I’ve gotten word from the refs. I’ve just been told, 'Hey, was told no more snot rockets.' 'Oh, okay, my bad.'"
Dirty Dom clashed with John Cena during this past Monday's RAW and lost the Intercontinental title to the GOAT. Despite losing his championship, Mysterio looks back on the experience in a positive light.
"Honestly, for me, it was, it wasn’t even more of like preparing," Mysterio said when asked how he got ready for the segment. "It was just making that moment about me, you know, because I knew I was going to be in there with, obviously, John Cena and Triple H in Boston, TD Garden...everything was perfectly in place for John Cena, and it was his night, so when I went out there, I made sure that it was about me."
Asked if the boos rattle him, The Judgement Day member said, "No, it doesn’t. It doesn’t get to me at all. Because that’s the thing about being booed. You got to embrace it. You know, some people don’t like it, but as long as you’re getting some noise out of people, man, that’s all that matters."
