Next January, RAW will move to Netflix in the U.S. and, overseas, every WWE show and PLE will debut on the streamer. It's another huge step back into the mainstream for the company and one that's set to free the Monday night show from the restrictions of regular old television.
The Judgement Day's Dominik Mysterio recently sat down for a conversation with Logan Paul on his podcast and shared his thoughts on what the Netflix deal means for talent.
"To me I just want to wrestle. I just want to go out there and put on the best performances as possible," he explained. "But on the business side of it, which I feel like a lot of, it’s newer for us wrestlers to like kind of do it that way."
"'Cause like I said, I feel like we just kind of want to go out there and wrestle and perform and give the best to the fans. So this is, bringing it to Netflix, it’s gonna, a whole new set of eyes, different crowd, you can get new people involved. It’s going to be...I want to see what boundaries we can push with it for sure."
Elaborating on that latter point, Mysterio said, "I think people are going to expect us to go in there and just…first episode of Raw on Netflix I think people are gonna expect you know freaking blood and tables everywhere, titties. Like Edge and Lita where they had the live sex show."
"I’m sure people are going to expect things like that but I feel like in order for stuff like that to be special and meaningful you can’t have it all the time," he added. "It’s gotta come like an RKO out of nowhere. It’s like you don’t expect it and then it’s like, boom – titty!"
"Boom - titty!" is one heck of a way to promote RAW's move and the interview is well worth a watch because Mysterio's real-life personality really shines through. While he's one of WWE's most despised heels, he's also one of the company's biggest rising stars.
Talking about separating his real life from what happens in the ring, Mysterio later commented on how his wife feels about his involvement with romance angles involving WWE Superstars like Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan.
"[Marie Juliette's] a saint man, we’ve been together since we were 14, she’s been with me through thick and thin, and she’s the best. I do what I do on TV and last week, when Rhea licked my face, the first text I got from her was, 'There’s a tarantula in our garage.'"
"She understands the difference from when I’m on TV I’m Dirty Dom and when I’m home, I’m her husband Dominik. She does a good job of separating work and real life," he concluded.
