At this year's Bad Blood PLE, Drew McIntyre and CM Punk squared off inside Hell in a Cell. It was a brutal match which saw the Scottish Psychopath legitimately busted open (he required 16 stapes after the bout finished).
McIntyre finally returned to WWE during last Monday's RAW when he attacked Sami Zayn. Appearing on KWCH 12 Morning News, the former WWE Champion explained his absence.
"I was off the past two months," he started. "My last match was a Hell in a Cell match, a very brutal match. I got hit in the head at one point, I needed 16 staples to close a wound on the top of my head. I suffered a family loss as well. So I had to go back to Scotland, deal with that, re-evaluate my priorities."
"I realized that I had probably given a bit too much to my profession and to my colleagues and not enough to my family. Kind of realized I’ve been giving too much for the past 17 years, and it’s time to probably start taking a little more, so I’m very much going into tonight with the mentality, I’m gonna take what’s mine, I’m gonna beat up people that deserve to be beat up."
He concluded by saying, "Yeah, this is gonna be an interesting phase for Drew McIntyre."
Yesterday evening's RAW saw McIntyre also take responsibility for the attack on Jey Uso; in a heated promo, he blamed his defeat at Punk's hands on blood loss (a great way to save face and protect him as a heel moving forward).
Addressing the OG Bloodline's Survivor Series: WarGames reunion, McIntyre said, "At least CM Punk took a bribe, they all sold out for absolutely nothing. That’s when I knew I had to come back. That’s when I knew I was gonna take out Sami. That’s when I knew I was gonna take out Jey Uso."
Is the stage being set for a feud with Roman Reigns? We can't imagine the OTC will be too happy with his Bloodline being taken out like this.
