The Hurt Business once stood a very real chance of becoming WWE's top heel faction. Led by Bobby Lashley, MVP served as a manager, and Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander provided backup beginning in 2020.
While they were treated seriously for a time, with Lashley holding the United States Championship and Alexander and Benjamin becoming RAW Tag Team Champions, that didn't last. Shortly after the All Mighty became WWE Champion, he booted the tag team from the group and remained with MVP until the manager dropped him for Omos.
Looking back, WWE definitely dropped the ball on The Hurt Business and tried revisiting the concept (to some extent) by pairing Lashley with The Street Profits and B-Fab. They failed to strike a chord with fans, and Lashley, MVP, and Benjamin are now AEW's Hurt Syndicate.
MVP has repeatedly pointed the finger at Triple H for The Hurt Business' poor booking and blames him for why none of its members are still signed with WWE.
Talking to Adventure Gamers, MVP wasn't holding back when Bret Hart's comments that The Game is a "phoney" were put to him. "Man. I agree with Bret’s assertion. I’ve said before, I call him a coward and a liar. Let’s put it like this. If you really want to, you can go to YouTube and you can look up the interviews of various wrestlers through the years of what their opinion is of the man."
"Interviews of guys that were his friends, what they had to say about the guy. I can think of more guys that dislike him than I can think of guys that do like him," he continued. "And people say MVP’s salty or bitter. Like, no, I have personal issues with the dude, stemming from professional stuff, but just the things that he does, how he carries himself, I just don’t have respect for the guy."
MVP went on to share his take that younger WWE talent still have a lot to learn about who Triple H is. "The newer generation, they don’t know that guy yet. So one of those that came up underneath him in NXT, they think he’s brilliant, and a lot of them should for the hand he’s had in their career. But the guys that had to work with him back in the day will tell you a different story, almost overwhelmingly.”
He added, "And so it’s not just me saying it. There’s guys who are way up the totem pole than me that are telling you that this guy’s, no bueno."
There does appear to be some bitterness there and plenty of heat, to boot. As always, be sure to head to the comments section below to let us know your thoughts on MVP's assessment of Triple H.
