Aside from a brief partnership with Spike TV, WWE has called NBC Universal (and the USA Network) its home for a very long time now. While ratings for RAW have slipped over the years, it remains one of the highest rated shows on cable every Monday and the same applies to SmackDown Live on Tuesdays. As a result, the company makes an awful lot of money from TV rights.
WWE's current deal - worth $200 million - ends in September 2019 and it's no secret that they want more money than that next time around. The question is, will Fox be the one to provide that?
The company has already met with them and the likes of YouTube, Facebook, and Disney but a new report reveals that Triple H has met with the head of Fox Sports and the network is interested in WWE's broadcast rights if UFC ends up taking its programming elsewhere. There's even speculation that Fox could try buying WWE outright for a cool $4 billion or more.
That's speculation for now and Vince McMahon is unlikely to want to sell but it's thought that RAW would be aired on Fox and SmackDown Live would head to Fox Sports 1. More WWE content would then be shown on the likes of FS1 or Fox Sports 2 and RAW would probably return to being two hours long. The deal, however, hinges on whether or not UFC ultimately resigns with them.
McMahon is said to be interested in a new TV deal to bump up stock prices but nothing is confirmed and we won't hear anything solid for a while. What do you guys think? Sound off below.
