We recently got confirmation that Bill Goldberg is no longer under contract with WWE and is officially a free agent, leading to speculation that the legendary WCW star could wind up on the All Elite Wrestling roster.
At 56-years-old, you might assume Goldberg's in-ring days are behind him, but the former WWE Universal Champion did say that he'd be more than up for at least one more match, and it sounds like there is genuine interest from Tony Khan.
Whether a deal can be made remains to be seen, but it sounds like Goldberg is still holding some resentment towards his former employers - Vince McMahon, in particular.
"Vince McMahon and I had a handshake understanding that after the Roman Reigns match that I would have a proper retirement match," Goldberg said during an interview with Adam Carriker on 93.7 The Ticket. "And that hasn’t come to fruition through them, and therefore…nobody puts a stamp on my career. Nobody tells me when I’m done. Period. End of story."
As for potentially making the jump to AEW, Goldberg said: "anything and everything is an option.”
Goldberg had a couple of memorable matches when he returned to WWE, but not all of them for positive reasons. We're sure he has at least one more Spear and Jackhammer combo in him, but would he still be the draw he was back in the day? Let us know what you think in the comments.
