On last week's episode of SmackDown Live, we learned that Brock Lesnar will challenge Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship during the first episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX. However, it now appears as if there are no plans for the title to be defended during the PPV.

According to Dave Meltzer, if WWE is planning on having the WWE title featured on the show, plans for it won't be made clear until this premiere episode for the blue brand.

Apparently, WWE sees this episode of Friday Night SmackDown as a much bigger deal than Hell in a Cell, hence why Lesnar is challenging Kingston there rather than a few days later at the PPV. It's an interesting move by the company but one that makes sense as they obviously want to get things off to a strong start.

As always, we'll keep you guys updated as we learn more about plans for the WWE Championship.
