Since making his return to WWE on Independence Day, John Cena has been feuding with Rusev and now looks set to take on Shinsuke Nakamura on tomorrow night's SmackDown Live for the chance to face WWE Champion Jinder Mahal at SummerSlam. However, regardless of whether or not he winds up in that match, it doesn't appear as if he'll be winning the title.
WWE has listed Cena for the WWE No Mercy Pay-Per-View which will take place at the Staples Center on September 2nd. Despite that previously being a SmackDown Live event, it will feature RAW Superstars including current Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. Could this event be where these two finally make up for that disappointing match they had back in 2012?
We'll have to wait and see but it's clear now that Cena's free agent status will take him from SmackDown Live to RAW quite quickly after SummerSlam. That's going to hurt the former moving forward but could lead to some intriguing and exciting new rivalries, especially as Cena has yet to square off with the likes of Finn Balor and Samoa Joe. What do you think?
