A couple of months ago, Jinder Mahal was just another jobber. He's now been WWE Champion for over fifty days and his reign has far exceeded expectations. This weekend, he battles Randy Orton in a Punjabi Prison match at WWE Battleground and most fans now agree that he's been a fitting champion with a solid act with the Singh Brothers by his side.
Now, in a new interview with India Today, Mahal has revealed that he has a sizeable amount of creative control over everything from storylines to promos. That could be a result of Vince McMahon not necessarily knowing the best way to appeal to Indian fans but is still surprising given Mahal's lack of main event experience in WWE.
"I do have creative control but also Vince (McMann) gives advice and ideas and I take them. Vince has experience and he has made the biggest sports entertainment in the history. He has made WWE into a global phenomenon. I have a good relation with Vince, he trusts me on the microphone, with my matches, which will only increase with time. I personally want to seek Vince’s advice."
Chances are Mahal's reign will come to an end at WWE SummerSlam but who that will be against isn't clear. WWE definitely appear to have faith in Mahal's ability to carry SmackDown Live and be WWE Champion, though, so it's possible that we're going to see him remain a top star of the brand for a very long time moving forward. What do you guys think?
