Is Triple H a liar?
Brock Lesnar is back! The return of the former WWE Champion shocked plenty of fans as Brock Lesnar is named in the Janel Grant Lawsuit. Though Lesnar isn’t charged with anything, his name is associated with sex trafficking, so it’s a complex situation in regards to Lesnar’s role in the Grant lawsuit. It was a bold choice to bring Lesnar back as the Lawsuit remains ongoing, and WWE has gotten some backlash over bringing in the 48-year-old.
According to Triple H at the Summerslam Night Two show panel, Lesnar was on John Cena’s wish list and he simply granted it once WWE lawyers approved the former Universal Champion's return. However, there’s been some clear push back from John Cena since Triple H tried to shift the blame.
First, Cena’s talked to Adam Glyn about the Lesnar situation and he implied that he had nothing to do with bringing Lesnar back:
“I’ve been saying the same thing for 25 years: They deal ’em, I play ’em.”
“I’m just really excited. We’ve got like 12 of these things left. I think SummerSlam was an indication from the audience where everybody kind of knows we’re closing our book. And just because I close my book in December, that doesn’t mean the WWE closes its books. They’ve got to continue their programming going forward. So, they’re just trying to make the most exciting shows for the fans and for the dozen of them I got left – they deal ‘em, I play ‘em.”
But John Cena has come out and stated that he’s NEVER chosen his opponent.
“I’ve been doing this for 23 years, and I’ve never once chosen my opponent,” said Cena in an interview with Justin Barrasso of Boston Herald. “I’ve always lived by the philosophy that life will give you opportunities every single day, and you have to do the best you can every single day with what life gives you. So whoever challenges me for that last match, I’m going to give it my best shot.”
Clearly, Triple H and John Cena aren’t on the same page. It feels that Triple H didn’t want to take the heat for bringing Lesnar back, even though he has the full authority to overrule John Cena’s request and keep Lesnar off of television.
It should be interesting to see how he’s booked going forward. Reportedly, Cena and Lesnar are expected to clash on September 20, though WWE has yet to confirm the upcoming pay-per-view.
