Karrion Kross wasn't included on the WrestleMania card, though he and Scarlett did interfere in AJ Styles' match with Logan Paul. After the Show of Shows ended, Kross cut a fiery promo where he blasted the company for continuing to overlook him.
It quickly went viral, but never seemed to lead anywhere. Kross' momentum has slowly continued to build, but on August 10, he and Scarlett became free agents after failing to come to terms on a new deal with WWE.
Talking to Ariel Helwani, Kross revealed that there were those within the company who weren't happy with the comments he made on the WrestleMania post-show...despite them being approved in advance.
"I let everybody know, let’s make sure this is somewhat protected from the audience, but let everyone know internally that this is a work… Sure enough, not everybody knew that that was a work," Kross explained. "People were very upset with it because they thought it was real. We see people, specifically, like higher-ups, I’ll say higher-ups. They were offended."
It seems that extended to WWE CCO Paul "Triple H" Levesque. "One day, I waited for Hunter outside the production meeting. Once was actually brought to my attention that he was not okay with it, and I explained everything to him. No one told him anything."
"So as far as I know, at that point, we were good, but everyone was under the impression, a lot of people like, I just lost my mind. I was just trying to do my job. That’s my job. That day was to make people believe like any other day," Kross added.
In the same interview, he talked more about his and Scarlett's failed contract negotiations, revealing that WWE pushed him to sign a deal without ever entering talks with his wife. "I was told at one point, because I did inquire, of course, yeah, after we deal with you, we’ll deal with her."
While Kross remains eager to return to WWE, he and Scarlett have already announced their first public appearance. They'll be at The Big Event NY's "EXS Entertainment x Sports Expo" this fall, on Saturday, November 15, at the Suffolk Credit Union Arena in Brentwood, New York.
That will be for autographs and photos. There's currently no word on wrestling bookings, though we likely won't hear about those until Kross and Scarlett's 90-day non-compete ends.
