During the first RAW on Netflix, Hulk Hogan showed up to promote his "Real American Beer" and was promptly booed out of the building.
There are plenty of theories about why he received such a reaction; some believe it's down to his politics, while others have argued it goes back to a series of racist comments he was caught making on camera in 2012. Then, there's the commonly known fact that Hogan is a, let's say, teller of tall tales.
Whatever the case may be, WWE Hall of Famer and Hogan's old nWo teammate, Kevin Nash, has weighed in on the response. "Somebody’s gotta be a heel," he started. "If he wasn’t financially tied to WWE with Real American Beer, the last thing you’d want to do is cut a promo on the crowd with your face on a beer can."
"He’s in business with WWE, Real American Beer. I heard they’re planning to feature the beer on a turnbuckle, similar to Prime," Nash said of Hogan's possible WWE future. "Hulk is beat up. He’s a tough motherf**cker. He sucked it up to come out and cut the promo, even though his back was killing him. I felt bad for him, but at least he got a reaction."
"I saw the hardware they removed from his back. It was insane, the amount of screws and bolts they took out."
Bad back or not, there doesn't appear to be much love for Hogan among pro wrestling fans. O'Shea Jackson Jr., who was in that RAW crowd, shared his take on that negative reception while appearing on SWAY'S UNIVERSE.
"I was one of them," he explained. "I’ll show you the video. Me, Eric Andre and Wale was giving it to him." As for why he booed, the actor and podcast noted, "The n***a hating. The racism, bro. It’s just hard to forget how detailed that rant was. If you look up his rant, it’s very detailed. Bringing him out here, what did you think was gonna happen?"
"We heard the music and it was like oh, hold on. They let him have it and that’s a pivotal moment in wrestling history. I’m glad I was there."
Will Hogan receive a warmer response at Saturday Night's Main Event in Texas? That's going to be very interesting, particularly if the response was partly down to Hogan's support of President Donald Trump (California is a blue state, whereas Texas is very much a red one).
