On Monday night's episode of RAW, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods united in their shared hatred for Big E and turned heel in a moment that left fans reeling.
That came during The New Day's 10th anniversary celebration, and Kingston and Woods' verbal attack on their former teammate has led to them becoming two of WWE's most despised Superstars.
Reflecting on that unforgettable segment in a new interview, Kingston said, "I am surprised that most of these people out here don’t really understand why we did what we did. We came out there, and you can always tell when you’re right when you make an argument and you say nothing but facts."
"Everything we said on Monday night was completely factual. We told the truth. You might not like to hear what it was, but people online and social media are cussing and cursing us and there are all these insults that have nothing to do with what we’re talking about"
"I know that when you can’t bring a rational argument to the table, that means you know that you’re wrong," he continued. "If you don’t have any facts for the argument. Just because you’re upset doesn’t mean you’re right."
We don't know what WWE has planned for Kingston and Woods moving forward, though we'd imagine this new version of The New Day will receive a solid push (it's also been widely reported that both men are, somewhat unsurprisingly, now listed internally as heels).
Elsewhere in the conversation, the former WWE Champion offered a possible glimpse at his heel persona by reflecting on the faction's past achievements:
"So we are the greatest tag team to ever do this. Sometimes you're supposed to be humble and dance around it, but if you look at our accolades, man - we just had this shirt come out for the 10-year anniversary, it had all, not even all of our accolades, but we filled the back of the shirt with the accolades that we have achieved. All the members of the group and all that we have done and titles that we've won and crowns that we've won. It's unmatched."
"Being able to host WrestleMania, being able to go toe-to-toe with The Rock on the mic, and hold our own. Not many people in the world can do that. Not many people can say that they've done that. I could go on and on. 12,13-time Tag Team Champions, that in and of itself. The longest-reigning Tag Team Champions at one point."
"If I'm being honest, I don't really care about what the fans remember about it, because I already know. I already know what we are, you know what I'm saying? So, yeah, you can't argue with the facts, and when it's all said and done, New Day is going to go down as the greatest tag team of all time. So for us right now, we're just trying to add on to that legacy. We're never full. We always stay hungry, and we keep on piling these accolades on until we decide that we don't want to do it anymore. Which won't be anytime soon."
