Liv Morgan is one of WWE's most popular female Superstars, but that's not something the company appears to recognise. Since The Riott Squad disbanded, Liv has received what feels like countless start and stop pushes, and never has that been more evident than in recent months.
It looked like Liv might win this year's Money in the Bank ladder match, but WWE instead decided to pull the trigger on Nikki A.S.H. (which, unfortunately, didn't last particularly long). Since then, she's not really been in that title picture, though will square off with Carmella at Extreme Rules tonight.
During a recent interview, Liv opened up on the frustrating way she's been booked in recent years.
"I feel like the past two years of my career I’ve had moments where I feel like I had so much momentum and I was ready for a breakthrough, and then I don’t," she explained. "I do feel like this time is different. I like to think positive and I’m very much a glass half full, so when I look back, I think, maybe I wasn’t as ready as I thought, and that’s why I didn’t break through."
"Even though I wanted it, maybe I just wasn’t ready as a performer. Now I feel so much more well rounded [and] I’m ready. I’m ready for that top spot. I’m ready to be that girl. I definitely feel after Money in the Bank that I’m going to keep the momentum going until I’m SmackDown Women’s Champion."
We certainly hope it happens for Liv, but it's always hard to say with WWE. It's worth noting that she's the only member of The Riott Squad who hasn't been released by the company, so here's hoping there are at least some big plans in place for her as we once again near the Road to WrestleMania.
