At March's Elimination Chamber, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson offered Cody Rhodes the opportunity to "sell his soul" and get everything he ever wanted by allying with the Final Boss.
For some reason, rapper Travis Scott was also there, and when the American Nightmare refused, John Cena shocked the world by turning heel. The Rock then vanished so he could take a crack at being seen as a serious actor in Hollywood, but Scott showed up at WrestleMania to help Cena win his 17th WWE Championship.
Scott had been training to get into the squared circle for a match at Money in the Bank, but bailed for reasons which have never been entirely clear. Now, though, Logan Paul has revealed what the plan had been for the rapper's in-ring debut.
"We were supposed to team up with one other person who was supposed to be a three-on-three," Paul explained during the latest edition of his podcast. "And the day that it was supposed to be announced, he didn’t show up."
"I think what happened is, he probably realized at some point that it’s really physically demanding, really hard and a lot of work," Paul continued. "It’s probably too much commitment for someone who is a rockstar of his caliber."
Adding that wrestling is about "navigating pain," he made it clear that taking bumps isn't as easy as some people seem to believe. "I certainly thought that before I got in WWE. When do they bring in the trampoline mat? No."
"I would like to see him make a real run at it," Paul later said of Scott. "But yeah, I think that’s what happened. Bad Bunny loves it and like put in the time and like became a good wrestler."
Ultimately, Paul teamed up with Cena to battle Rhodes and Jey Uso. However, WWE had also considered having Cena, Paul, and Scott battle Rhodes and The Usos in a six-man tag team match. WWE has never addressed the rapper's sudden absence, and Cena himself recently shrugged off what might have been.
"Who cares? It doesn't matter. We can talk about what could have been until the cows come home," he said. "And I think that's what's great about the people who are left standing. Certainly me and Cody. What's the change? this? All right, let's go. I don't dwell for one second on what could have been, because what could have been is Brock doesn't leave for the NFL and there's no John Cena."
