Last Friday, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson returned to SmackDown and revealed that he wants Cody Rhodes' "soul." They'll meet again at Elimination Chamber but it's clear the Final Boss is both out of touch and looking to insert himself into WrestleMania...without wrestling.
After turning heel at least four or five times in the same promo, Johnson held a press conference explaining that there's no reason for his feud with the American Nightmare to culminate in a match.
Now, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry has weighed in and admitted that he's among those scratching their heads after Johnson's latest WWE return.
"This year has been very confusing [regarding The Rock]," Henry said on Busted Open Radio. "The confusing part is easy to deal with. It's the weirdness and the out-of-syncness that is troubling me as a fan."
"And when I say out of syncness, I would go to the press conference and hearing The Rock, as Dwayne Johnson, talking about how great The Rock is and how great The Final Boss, the white whale unicorn, how great those characters are as it relates to them being in the WWE, like those two characters single handedly have saved the WWE, first off."
"Secondly, I don't get [The Rock saying] it doesn't need to culminate into a match," he added. "The whole point of good and evil is they're both going up against each other."
Despite choosing his words carefully, the World's Strongest Man also seemed to strongly hint that Johnson's actions are a result of The Rock wanting to put the spotlight on...The Rock.
"He wants somebody listening to know, 'I'm the head of the board,'" Henry explained. "'I want somebody to know I talk to Ari Emmanuel and I said, 'Can you believe you own this?' 'No, Dwayne, you own it.'"
"That's this. 'Recognize I'm the boss. I can come on this show and say whatever the hell I want to and I can pitch in the middle of my promo, 'Hey, thank y'all for watching Moana 2. I can do whatever I want!' He couldn't ever do that before," he concluded.
Johnson is out of touch and gearing up to derail a Road to WrestleMania that's already shaping up to be somewhat underwhelming. A Rhodes heel turn seems unlikely, though not impossible (especially if he defends the Undisputed WWE Championship against John Cena).
