Triple H suggested this might be the case during WWE's Money in the Bank post-show press conference, but Variety has now confirmed the PLE is officially the highest-grossing arena event in the company's history.
It's also been revealed that the June 30 edition of SmackDown is the highest-grossing edition of that show ever produced, with both it and Money in the Bank grossing a combined total of $5.4 million. The shows took place in London's iconic O2 Arena.
Records were set in other areas as well, including the highest gross for venue merchandise in WWE history (as well as the usual merch stands dotted around the arena, a Money in the Bank Superstore was also opened in the O2's outlet shopping mall).
Pricey On Location fan experience packages also made Money in the Bank the highest-grossing non-WrestleMania event in terms of sales for those.
It was a stacked event full of surprises, including appearances from John Cena and Drew McIntyre. Along with two Money in the Bank Ladder Matches, multiple titles were on the line and the PLE was headlined by a Bloodline Civil War.
Widely considered the best feud in professional wrestling today, the match saw The Usos defeat Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa, with the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion pinned for the first time since 2019 (by Jey Uso).
For UK fans, this is all great news as it means more big shows are bound to be held there after this and last year's Clash at the Castle. Whether the country will ever get a WrestleMania is hard to say, though we'd say it's more likely now than when Cena teased the possibility on Saturday night.
Stay tuned for updates.
