On Thursday, Luke Harper took to Twitter to ask for his release from WWE. However, it's since been revealed that the company has added six months to his existing contract in order to make up for the time he took off for a wrist injury. Now, he looks set to be stuck with WWE (against his will) until 2020.

"He’s been told that not only is he not released but his contract is being extended," Dave Meltzer explains. "The gist is that he was coming back and he was going to be in a program with Sami Zayn and, for whatever reason, they canceled it and he just felt they don’t have anything [for him]."

That explains why he decided now might be the right time to leave and the fact The Bludgeon Brothers are no more probably factored into his decision too. "His thing is a bad deal," Meltzer added. "This is often a cruel business and in his case, he’s getting a bad [deal]."

WWE is reportedly trying to avoid looking like the bad guy in their fight against All Elite Wrestling but it seems like they don't realise just how bad something like this comes across to wrestling fans.
