Yesterday's Night of Champions PLE was headlined by John Cena defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against CM Punk. The match eventually erupted into chaos when Seth Rollins attempted to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase.
Cena foiled his plan, but only after interference from Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Sami Zayn, and Penta. Punk looked to have the match won, but was taken out by Rollins, allowing Cena to take advantage and get the 1-2-3.
Talking after the show ended, WWE CCO Paul "Triple H" Levesque praised the Second City Saint and Leader of the Cenation, but closed the door on them getting another match when he confirmed this will be the "last time" they face off.
"You are talking about two superstars in John Cena and CM Punk that sort of defined an era, and not only that, defining an era but sort of in a way defined each other," The Game explained. "If you talk about CM Punk and his career you automatically talk about John Cena; if you talk about John Cena and his career you talk about CM Punk. It's just two generational superstars coming together one last time."
"People grow, people change, people evolve, and they learn and they learn a lot in life," Triple H said of Punk's latest WWE run following his return to the company at the end of 2023. "I was privileged to watch two men grow as people, especially CM Punk, I was privileged to watch him grow as a human being, to step out here and apologize to the people of Saudi."
"To just cherish where he is at in life and his career and the things he gets to do and the opportunities that he has and I was incredibly proud of him," he concluded.
All signs point to Punk resuming his feud with Rollins' faction heading into SummerSlam. Cena, meanwhile, will defend the title against King of the Ring Cody Rhodes in a WrestleMania rematch.
