Fans remain eager to learn whether Brock Lesnar will return to WWE, but recent comments from UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier suggested that The Beast has been put on a "banned list" by TKO.
Now, Dave Meltzer has weighed in on what he's heard about Lesnar's status in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
"There is nothing new on the Lesnar front," he started. "WWE legal made the call at the time Janel Grant filed her lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE to not allow Lesnar to be used."
"He was pulled from the 2024 Royal Rumble at the last minute after it had been scripted and Breakker was called into the Rumble to take his spot," Meltzer continued. "The plan was for him to then beat Dominik Mysterio on a PPV and face Gunther at Mania."
As for where things stand now with Lesnar, the insider continued, "Nothing has changed, and the situation remains the same. There is nothing other than that." As for Cormier's remarks, he suggested that they contained nothing we don't already know, meaning that was no great revelation.
When the lawsuit regarding Vince McMahon's alleged sexual abuse and trafficking first made headlines, the multi-time WWE Champion's name was dragged into the whole sordid affair.
In a damning exposé, McMahon was said to have offered WWE employee Janel Grant—the woman he's accused of abusing—to Lesnar as a bonus, of sorts, for signing a new deal. Texts showed that Lesnar responded positively to his boss's suggestion, though we've seen nothing to indicate they ever met (the former UFC star may have also believed he and McMahon were simply sharing a joke).
Lesnar's last match in WWE was at SummerSlam 2023 when he was defeated by Cody Rhodes. In a rare sign of sportsmanship, he raised the American Nightmare's hand after the match, leaving that as the last memory many fans have of the former UFC star in WWE.
The WWE Superstar has always kept himself to himself, but has made several public appearances this year. Apparently, when one fan asked him about a potential WWE return a few months ago, he responded by saying, "We'll see."
There's a very strong chance we'll never see Lesnar set foot in a WWE ring again. If the lawsuit can be dismissed, that will certainly help matters, but it's likely to be years before that happens, and the former UFC star isn't getting any younger.
Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
