We've got new women's tag team champions as Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair proved that you don't have to be friends to be partners as they defeated Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez to win the titles on WWE SummerSlam Saturday on August 2, 2025. The Judgment Day no longer have "all the gold" on Monday Night Raw, so how did that go down and what's possibly next? Let's break it all down!
How We Got Here:
For the past few months, Alexa Bliss has tried to form a partnership with Charlotte Flair after both returned to Friday Night SmackDown and have had a few setbacks. In Alexa's eyes, you can call it an alliance out of convenience or a "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" deal, but having each other as backup has started to pay off. The Queen and The Goddess make a formidable enough team that this was their second shot at the titles.
Meanwhile, Roxanne Perez was brought into The Judgment Day as an extra member, with a lot of contention from Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, who were the women's tag team champions. After Morgan was taken out of action with a dislocated shoulder injury, Perez stepped in to take over her title reign. Since then, she and Raquel have also been developing a stronger bond.
Though there were some moments throughout where they had some miscommunication, even so much as Bliss accidentally hitting Flair and knocking her down, the challengers still had enough of a rapport together to get the job done.
Personal Reactions & What Happens Next?:
It's nice to freshen up the division a bit. The Judgment Day holding the tag titles would have just resulted in Raquel and Roxanne just repeating the same matches with the same outcomes of the rest of the group interfering to help them retain and such. At least with Flair and Bliss together, their different dynamic opens up a few more stories, and they'll have some less repetitive matches with other teams that are challenging them now. I don't anticipate this to be a particularly long title reign, as WWE loves to break up these types of singles-pair teams and start to feud them opposite each other instead, but there's also a good chance that if this catches on even more, they could be walking into WrestleMania 2026 season with the belts still around their waists, too.
