Fans were shocked when WWE released Nia Jax, especially as she'd often been portrayed as a top star in the company. While the former Women's Champion had gained something of a reputation for injuring her opponents, her familial ties with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson led many to believe she was untouchable.
Recently, Jax took to Twitter to reveal the name she'll be using moving forward: Lina Fanene.
This led to countless reports online that she had a new ring name, but Fanene has now taken to Twitter to clear things up. "Lol! Newflash..Lina is my real name. It’s not another 'ring' name. It’s just MY NAME, the name given to me at birth. Calm TF down trolls. In all fairness, 'Opponent Crippler' would be a SOLID front runner if I ever decide to wrestle again. but it’s highly unlikely"
That last part is particularly interesting as it doesn't sound like the former WWE Superstar has any plans to now step back into the squared circle. For many wrestlers, it's WWE or nothing, and we'd doubt AEW would be interested in signing her. As a result, it seems we should look out for her elsewhere, though it's unclear what Fanene has planned once her 90-day non-compete ends.
It is, however, worth noting that this is Jax's real name, so we'd expect her to use that for any acting or modelling aspirations she might have outside the squared circle.
