It was two years ago that Daniel Bryan was forced to retire from in-ring competition in one of the most emotional RAW segments of all-time. Later on in 2016, he was appointed the General Manager of SmackDown Live and has served in that role ever since but the leader of the Yes Movement has never shied away from making it clear in interviews that he hopes to return to wrestling one day.
Now, WWE has officially announced that after more than two years of extensive evaluations, Bryan has been medically cleared to return to in-ring competition by leading neurosurgeons, neurologists and concussion experts. Bryan underwent a full review of his medical history and received neurological and physical evaluations independent of WWE but has also been cleared by WWE doctors.
It's that latter point which matters, especially as we've heard multiple times that Dr. Joseph Maroon's seal of approval is the only way Vince McMahon would give him the green light. The question now is, what does the future hold in store for Bryan? Will we see him compete at WrestleMania and is he going to remain General Manager? We'll hopefully find out tonight during SmackDown Live.
