Did Omos enjoy his time in Pro Wrestling NOAH?
On January 1st, Omos shocked the professional wrestling world when he won a title. But that title wasn’t in WWE. It was in Pro Wrestling NOAH.
He teamed with Jack Morris to challenge Naomichi Marufuji & Takashi Sugiura for the GHC Tag Team Titles and the duo won the belts within 11 minutes. Omos joined the Team 2000X stable, which also consists of Daga, GHC World Champion Taishi Ozawa, and Yoshitatsu. However, that partnership wouldn’t last long.
Omos vacated his title 25 days later. Him and Jack Morris only defended the GHC Tag Team titles once. Omos’ reasoning for vacating the belt was due to him returning to the WWE. This was during the week of the Royal Rumble, so there was heavy speculation that WWE was going to feature the 7’3 giant in the annual battle royale. Sadly, Omos was nowhere near to be seen in the Royal Rumble.
Nevertheless, the WWE star talked about his experience in Japan to MuscleManMalcolm and he had nothing but positive things to say about his time in Pro Wrestling NOAH.
"It was a life changing experience. It was something that I needed for my experience as a performer. It was great to experience a different culture. I ingratiated myself in the Japanese culture, which was awesome.”
He also talked about his tag team partner Jack Morris and he feels that the NOAH wrestler is a star.
"It was awesome. Jack has so much potential. He was a great tag team partner. I can’t speak any more highly of him. He’s amazing. Look out for Jack Morris. He’s a star."
When could we see the 7’3 giant in a WWE ring? Unfortunately, there’s no indication that Omos will be returning anytime soon. Perhaps WWE has plans for the big guy after WrestleMania, or else it was senseless to have Omos abruptly drop the GHC Tag Team titles when he could’ve gained more experience working with talent in Japan.
Whatever the case may be, Omos wasn’t a part of the latest talent cut, so it’s clear that Triple H sees value in the giant. Hopefully, he’s given something meaty to do on television that allows him to grow as a performer.
