One Lucky Gambler May Have Brought A Swift End To Betting On Pro Wrestling

After a "WWE Insider" walked away with a huge amount of money after betting on SummerSlam, the signs may be pointing to gambling sites bringing an end to gamblers placing money on sports entertainment!

SummerSlam was a fun event even if it didn't live up to what the show has delivered over the past couple of years in Brooklyn. However, it was particularly fun for one person in particular as a lucky fan (well, possibly) put down money on all 10 main card matches in a parlay and ended up walking away with a cool $45,600. Yes, you definitely did just read that correctly!

According to The Wrestling Observer newsletter, this gambler - who they believe was more than likely a WWE insider - placed a $3.36 10-match parlay which covered every match on the card.

In that type of bet, you only win if every bet you've placed is correct and that's what happened here. This insider walked away with $45,600 and while it's possible that they were just extremely lucky, it's thought that they were aware of the finishes beforehand and that's how they were able to walk away with such a massive amount of money.

It will be interesting to see if there's any sort of fallout here, especially as many gambling sites are iffy about allowing people to place money on what is essentially a fixed sport anyway. The newsletter adds that WWE talent may already be betting on their own matches but perhaps this will lead WWE to crack down on that sort of behaviour to avoid negative press? We'll see.
