Possible Reason Why Kevin Owens Seemingly Turned Face On SMACKDOWN LIVE

Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre were guests on the Kevin Owens Show last night, and it seemed clear that KO was out to antagonist them from the off, essentially setting up a babyface turn. This appeared to be confirmed later in the night when he gave Dolph Ziggler a stunner after their tag-match.

So, why make Owens a face again when he just turned heel a couple of months ago?

Dave Meltzer shared a possible explanation on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

“It’s very clear that this is a babyface turn for Owens who just turned heel a couple of months ago. I hate turns back and forth, but originally he was supposed to be a babyface. The heel turn was just a last-ditch effort because Daniel Bryan got hurt and now he’s getting back to where they wanted him originally.”

Quick back-and-forth turns are very lazy, and really insult the audience's intelligence. That said, Owens has wanted a proper face run for a while now so hopefully WWE gives him the opportunity to make the most of it.
