John Cena and R-Truth are best buds again.
Last week on Smackdown, R-Truth and John Cena had a backstage segment where the former United States Champion came face-to-face with his childhood hero. But this wasn’t Ron Killings; the man that was dedicated to destroying John Cena for the past couple of months. This was the man that made so many fans laugh and smile before John Cena broke him.
It was a light hearted segment that brought back R-Truth and repaired the John Cena/Truth dynamic. Truth talked about his interaction with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed and he felt that the moment was so organic.
“It was so organic,” said Killings. “That’s why it came across that way. You could feel it. The proof is in the pudding. For just over a minute promo to be one of the biggest takeaways from the show, come on, I love that. John is the G.O.A.T. in my eyes. Not only is he my childhood hero, I’ve learned a lot from being in the ring with him–and I’ve learned a lot from him in the back.”
As previously stated, Ron Killings seems to be gone. That means his feuds with John Cena and Aleister Black will seemingly go unresolved. It’s a shame since Killings had a ton of momentum when WWE brought him back at Money in the Bank.
But it was also evident that the company never truly had long term plans for Killings once the initial high of his return faded. I guess you can’t blame WWE too much since they did release the guy and brought him back due to fan demand. Killings was never going to get into a serious feud with John Cena and given his age, it’s unlikely that WWE saw him as a top star. Perhaps that will change in the coming months as it’s a shame that WWE dropped this new character so Truth can revert back to his old one. The future with Truth should be fun despite the wonky booking the last couple of months.
Anyways, check out the full Undisputed interview where R-Truth mainly talks about his upcoming album release.
