WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose recently spoke with The Monitor and during the interview, the former WWE champion described his recent road to recovery as “one nightmare after another”, admitting for the first time that he nearly died due to an unexpected MRSA Staph infection.
“I was in the hospital for a week plugged up to this antibiotic drip thing, and I was on all these antibiotics for months that make you puke and crap your pants.”
The timeline for Ambrose’s injury was originally three to four months before he could return to the ring; however, after the original surgery doctors estimated his return to be around six months which is all because of the damage done to the injured area. That’s when Dean’s injury went downhill.
“They said they found traces of an infection during the first surgery, but they cleaned it out. I don’t know if it was in there previously, or if it came after. It could’ve been with me for years. I don’t know. But it was about six weeks or so after that I was like, this is not healing correctly.”
